Valerie's RR

I finished my section on Valerie's RR yesterday. This stitched up like a dream with the beautiful silks that Valerie chose! I will hold off mailing it to Edgar for a couple of weeks unless you are ready for it now Edgar? Let me know. Sorry about the poor photo but it's really dark and gloomy here and has been for the past few weeks so I had to take it using my Ottlite for lighting. If anyone has any spare sunshine - please bottle it and send it over!

Have finished Rowyn's RR!

I've got Rowyn's RR finished last night. I will send it on to Valerie tomorrow. Next up will be Edgar's restitch. I know I will be ahead of schedule, but with Christmas coming, I've got some presents that I want to do for my family.

Thank you Valerie for the lovely needlebook you enclosed for me - much appreciated.

I'm late...I'm late!

Hi All~
Just a quick update - I got Valerie's RR in the mail to Carol on October 31st! Sorry for falling behind.....and I had Valerie's piece done so quickly too. But its off and winging its way to the U.K. I hope it gets there soon.

Donna's RR Received!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received Donna's RR from Rowyn last night and that it's safe and sound. I can't wait to get started but will probably have to wait a week or two before tackling it so I can finish up other commitments. Will definitely get it done and back to Donna before the deadline though. :)

I'm ready to send to Valerie!

Quick peek at the RR! It is finished and I will send it on to Valerie on Tuesday. It looks great Wendy!

Where I am at with RRs

Just thought I would check in to let you know what is happening with the four RRs I had/have in my possession.

Donna's RR has been sent to Valerie today
Edgar's RR and my own RR have been sent to Donna today

I still have Carol's RR to stitch, and I will post that onto Donna once done (it will be at least a few weeks away as I need to work on another RR first).

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

I've been thinking...

I received Carol's and Edgars RRs today (thanks Edgar), so I now have four RRs. Donna's which is due out on 21 October to Valerie, Carol's restitch, Edgar's restitch and my own restitch.

Rather than sending them all onto Donna, should I send them in different directions as I finish them (to make the robin 'round' again)? I am going to work hard at getting them all done as soon as I can.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

Mailing those re-stitches...

I have both Carol's and my re-stitch boxed up and ready for the mail this morning.
Here is a snap of Carols lovely green and grey piece -

and here is mine - in red, brown and grey -

The box should arrive at Rowyn's in NZ in the next week or so.

How is everyone doing? Are there any problems, concerns - let me know. The next great shifting should be around October 21st -
the day before I leave on a holiday in Vancouver Washington.

Take care,
edgar

Friday, August 29, 2008

Just a quick post......

I received Wendy's rr from Rowyn! It looks beautiful. I also want to thank Carol for making every one a fob! I chose the green one! My son Jacob liked it too!
I'll hopefully start stitching this weekend!

Off to Canada...

Here is a sneak peek of how my piece looks with my vine and initials. I really like how the color combination turned out. I just wish I had different initials. Being a V-squared makes it look kind of "matchy-matchy". Oh well! I will be placing this in the mail to Wendy in Canada tomorrow. I hope I didn't miss anything!

Carol's re-stitch on it's way to SF

I put my re-stitched piece in to the mail today Edgar. Please let me know when it arrives - I don't want another one to bite the dust!

Carol's re-stitch

I have completed my re-stitch. As you can see I frogged the green initials and date and re-stitched using the same grey as the little rabbit. I've no idea why the fabric looks grey - poor lighting I expect - it's actually lambswool!  I will mail it out to Edgar this weekend.

Thank you to all who have to re-stitch - it's much appreciated.

Donna's RR has arrived...

... thanks Edgar!

Once I am finished who will I mail it too? With the restitch I am mailing to Donna, but there will still be one square left on Donna's so presumably I should mail to Valerie?

My re-start

Here's a picture of my re-start. The fabric is 35ct lambswool linen and the silk is Vicki Clayton's Imperialosity - 1 strand over 2. I was going to order in something new but decided to go with whatever I had in my stash. Haven't quite decided whether to stitch the rabbit and maybe accents in grey. If so, I will frog the initials and year and replace them too. Hopefully I should finish my section for the mailing deadline!

In the mail - and preparing for the re-stitch

Donna's RR in in the USPS on it's way to Rowyn and should arrive in the next week or so. I am getting the feeling that we are all in agreement that a re-stitch is the way to go - I am getting together the silk and linen for my part.

Update on Mindi's RR

Mindi's RR

I couldn't wait to make a start on Mindi's RR! I only have the motif with the 'devil's horns' to go. I love the vintage fabric and the silks that Mindi chose - can you let me know what this is please? This is such a lovely RR and I am really enjoying it. I am tempted to order Raisin Wine for my future stitching of BP.

Mindi's RR now in the UK

Just to let Mindi know that her RR arrived safe and sound from Wendy today and it's beautiful. The fabric and silks are gorgeous - can I keep this one instead of mine? :o)

I am really looking forward to stitching on this one.

Checking In for the July 8th rotation

I am putting Wendy's RR in the mail this morning so it should arrive at Rowyn's in the next week or so. Here is a shot of my completed section.

You would never know by this photo but the fabric is really a nice antique white. My taking pictures at 11:30 at night does nothing for these stitched pieces!!

Donna's RR

Edgar - I have mailed Donna's RR to you today. Please let me know when it arrives - such a worry entrusting our precious stitching to the mailing system!!

I dreamt about QFRR last night - mine was returned but instead of being stitched someone had frogged it - I could see where the stitching had been. What a nightmare LOL

Donna's RR

Despite having received Donna's RR only a few day ago, I have already finished the section I chose to stitch! I am so enjoying this RR - it's such a quick stitch and it's so nice to work with different fabrics and flosses.  I will wait a couple of weeks before I mail this to Edgar as I don't want to pressurize anyone! I think the next one for me to stitch will be Mindi's and I am looking forward to working on this.

Update on Wendy's RR by Carol

I have been stitching on Wendy's piece these past few evenings. I chose DMC 158 which really is a pretty blue and blends in well with the variagated thread that Wendy chose to stitch her section. I am really enjoying this piece.

Rowyn, I just wanted to let you know your package arrived safe and sound this weekend, and I'm looking forward to starting on it.

I also realized I never posted a picture of what my final decision ended up being.

I finished late last night.....

I wanted to make sure I finished. I'm happy with how it turned out. Loved stitching the bunny. Today is a free day from school, so I plan to stitch alot today! I'll most likely wait to send mine till the end of the week. By then I'll have my other exchange ready to ship too.

See ya later!

Donna

I can't make a decision!

Hi Friends~
I admire (and I'm envious) of you that have started on your RR's! Meanwhile I realize the downside to having too much fabric stash....it gives you too many choices! I have been going back and forth between decisions as to what to use for my RR. And back and forth between floss choices too. How on earth did you ever make your final decision?

I'm getting to the point where I'm asking my hubby to decide for me....and believe me, I have never done that before. His colour taste, well, he just doesn't have any. But I really need to get my section started and the days are passing by. I'm in such a quandry!

On it's way to San Francisco

I have today mailed my stitching to Edgar. It usually takes 5-7 days to travel from UK to US and I really hope it arrives safe and sound.  Maybe you will let me know when it does arrive please?

Thursday, March 6, 2008

Getting there...

I worked some on mine last night and here is a progress snap -

I am now waiting for my extra silk from Vicki at HDF, due to my colour change I did not have enough to send this out into the world. My plan was to finish and get it out next Tuesday.... but the best laid plans don'tcha' know!!! If it is ready to go I say send away, the dates for mailing I feel are the outside times it should be sent to allow for mailing and stitching. As soon as I get mine together I will post this sucker off - zoom!!!!

Take care,
edgar

A little more on mine.....

I got a tiny bit more done. I plan to have this ready this weekend. Can't wait to stitch the little bunny!

Sorry you had to rip Edgar! I like your color!

Donna

PS: Should we mail early if we want too?

A start.....some ripping and a new start.... finally

I started mine the other evening and worked away at it ..... then picked it up again last night and worked some more. The more I stitched the less happy I was with it. It was looking VERY stripey!! Then I tried to scatter the stitches and make it look a little more blocky and that looked freckled and spotty. I then finally made the decision to rip/frog/pull out everything that I had done and go with a colour I had thought about doing when I started the piece. I decided to go back to HDF "Old Maid of the Sea." Here is a snap of the little bit I got done after all the bother....

This is a terrible picture, I even tried to adjust the lighting on the computer ( it did not work).... I will get a better on tonight. I am much happier with the way this is turning out. I have also ordered some secondary colours from HDF so I have not made a decision on what colour the rabbit will be.....yet. :)

Take care,
edgar

Monday, March 3, 2008

I finally ordered my fabric

After much deliberation, I am going with 32 count Haystack from Countrystitch. I can't wait for it to arrive so I can get started!

Sunday, March 2, 2008

My beginning!

This is the start of mine! I really like using the silks! They don't seem to knot up on me!

My green looks almost black!

Donna

My section is done!

I finished my section and I could have carried on but, I was really good and have stopped! As you can see, I 'stole' Edgar's idea of stitching the rabbit in another colour and, although I was going to subsitute a squirrel for him, I decided against it so as to make it easier to count for whoever is going to stitch that section.

If you prefer your vines to be mirror images, be careful when stitching the first leaf at the top of the left hand side and the flower bud on the right hand side which is next to the 8, as they are different on the chart. I altered them but, of course, it's up to you but I like symmetry!

I am looking forward to seeing someone else's WIP so how about some photos?

And a few more stitches

I only managed a few more stitches yesterday but a few is better than none!  Is anyone stitching along with me?

Thursday, February 28, 2008

A start!

I made a start! I really love how the OMG Red looks against the lambswool fabric. It will not be long before my piece is stitched and it will be ready to be mailed off to Edgar. It seems strange to think I will not see this project for a year so I hope for regular photos to see how it's coming along.

Anyone else made a start?

Monday, February 25, 2008

A little test for coverage....

I did a little test of some leaves to see what the coverage would be with one or two strands of silk. Here is a snap - What do you think??

I think I am kinda liking the two over two.
I am getting the edges serged ( I really hate it when the edges unravel) and will start mine over the weekend.

edgar

I'm ready to start!

My lambswool fabric has now crossed the ocean and I am ready to make a start! I am getting the edges overlocked tomorrow and then I just might put in a few stitches after that. I can't wait to start this project.

Thursday, February 21, 2008

A little change

I think this will be a little easier for everyone. I always wondered about that black... :) I think we will go with q-snap and popping the piece out when not being worked on. I have no idea who Joshua is but since he likes the site ..... and we aim to please!!!!! I of course did no test yet :( but will tonight first thing before anything else is stitched upon!!!

Take care,
edgar

Q-snaps or Hoops

What does everyone think about q-snaps or hoops. I would prefer that my linen be taking out of either the hoop or q-snap when not being worked on. I can go either way with the hoop/snap but have been using the q-snap thingie exclusively for past few weeks and really like it.

Let me know what everyone thinks!!

edgar

New header shot and an email....

Hi All,
I thought I would throw a snap at the header to let those that stumble upon us see what is going on... what do you think? Also I will be sending out an email today (or more probably tomorrow) so keep a look out!!!

It's here!

My chart arrived this morning along with Edgar's breakup of the chart - thank you Edgar. I really can't wait to start this project but I have to finish my biscornu for the HOE exchange first and as I am awaiting on yet more fabric to come from NIAH I guess I am going to have to wait! Is there a "Patience is a Virtue" pattern? lol

Monday, February 18, 2008

Yay, my chart arrived today

I also received the break up of the chart from Edgar (thanks Edgar!).

Now to decide what fabric and threads to use (although I do like the multi-colour version on the chart itself).

Chart Size

Hi All -

Donna - that is a great color and will look super on the fabric you picked out - I know what you mean about 36 count - :)

Carol -I really like the OMG Red!

To answer the size questions - the chart has the design stitch count as 209 x 152.

My stitch calculator works that out to be -

On 36 count fabric 2 over 2 with a 2 inch border - Stitched area will be 11 5/8 x 8 1/2
with the fabric being 15 1/2 x 12 1/2.

On 32 count fabric 2 over 2 with a 2 inch border - Stitched area 13 1/8 x9 1/2
with the fabric being 17 x 13 1/2.

The chart also give two versions of a completed piece one monochromatic and one with 7 different colours. I would think if you wanted to use various colours that would be just fine. You would need to send specific instructions with your piece as to what goes where, but so long as it was explained it should be fine.
I am going with a single silk but I am doing that rabbit in a alternate colour before I send it off. :)

I also got into the mail the break up of the chart so everyone should be getting that pretty soon.

I thought about the April 1st mail date - it just happened to hit there.... as I picked all Tuesdays since Mondays are such busy days at the post office.

I should do a little test area like Carol - what a good idea!!!

Take care,
edgar

Fabric and floss

I stitched a few 'test' pieces last night.  The top one, which I gave up on as I thought it disappeared into the fabric, is Vicki Clayton's OMG Red (one strand) on flax 36ct. I then stitched two 'snowflakes' on lambswell 32ct. The one on the left is one strand of OMG Red and the other one, using two strands, is two sections in OMG Red and the remaining sections in Imperialosity.  So this means that I am going with OMG Red with two strands on the 32ct lambswool and the only problem here is my piece of fabric is 19" x 14 1/4" and I not sure if it's big enough so I may have to order some more. I had not realised that Vicki's silk was so thin and I am thinking I should have chosen Au Ver a Soie or Needlepoint Inc both of which I have used before.

Still no chart!

Saturday, February 16, 2008

Picture of my linen and floss.

Here is my choice of linen, it is a 32 count antique light khaki color, I did look at 36 count and decided my poor eyes deserved a break from that one. (haha) I have picked out Needlepoint Silks in a hunter teal green, I know there are only 3 skeins pictured, I ordered 3 more since I bought all my LNS had. They did not have Vicki Clayton silks, they had Needlepoint Silks and Ave A Soil(most likey misspelled) and but only ones or twos per color. So I did choose Needlepoint because the shop owner assured me that I'd be able to get the same dyelot again from Needlepoint. So here's hoping!
Question? We are only picking one color for the entire project, right?
It's hard to see the color good, but it is very lovely, and since I plan to hang this sampler in my living room I went with the darker green.
My linen size is 18" by 18". I'm very excited to get started! I'm glad I'm stitching with ya'll!
Donna>aka DaisyGirl

April 1st? April Fool?

I have just realised that our first posting date is April 1st.  I hope that isn't an ominous sign that Edgar is just having a joke with us!! lol

I am really looking forward to starting this RR - my first one and I couldn't have chosen a better group to be with. I am still awaiting my chart from Wyndham Needleworks so I do not know the stitch count. Does anyone know? I can at least prepare my fabric, although I still need to decide which fabric I am going to use but I may just have enough lambswool 32ct as I think QF may be smaller than I thought.  Are we basting the sections?

Happy stitchy weekend.

Up and Running

Here we go - I have sent out invitations so that we can all post here. I will be adding to the blog over the next few days. Any suggestions just toss them this way!!! I will also be mailing out today the section breakdown for the chart.

Quakers away!
